Graduate Associate (GA) Application Procedures

Carefully review all the of the material at this website before applying for one or more of the College House positions. The Office of College Houses and Academic Services reserves the right to make changes to this application process.

Expectations associated with positions in each College House may vary. Read carefully the information about the Houses you are considering.

Within the application you will have the opportunity to state preferences for Houses and your areas of expertise. You are not required to do so. All GA applications are read and reviewed and each College House Dean is responsible for the selection process for their House. Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview for a position. Those candidates who are interviewed and ultimately selected to be offered a position will receive a notification letter which will include instructions relevant to positions for which you are being considered.

There is no guarantee that selected candidates will necessarily be placed in their preferred locations. You will be contacted IF the house after reviewing your application is interested in your candidacy.  Interviewed candidates will be notified of their status (offer to appoint, no offer to appoint, waitlist) within approximately 30 days of an interview. All applications are available for viewing by all of the Houses.  As a result, once your application is submitted, changes may not be made to your application.

Usually, several applications are received for every position available. The reviewers who must read and evaluate your application in conjunction with your interviews will prefer a carefully prepared and thoughtfully completed application.

To apply, you must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Pennsylvania for the 2018-19 academic year. Starting January 30, 2018, you may submit your application. Once application review begins in February, only applicants of interest will be contacted. IF an applicant is interviewed, they will be notified of their status no later than 30 days from the date of the interview. The hiring process is normally completed in June.
