House Governance

Many of the activities in the College Houses are created and led by residents.

Student leadership is fostered by participation in House Councils or other governing bodiess that the Houses create (there is some variation in how the 12 Houses name, populate, and structure their boards). In these governing boards, the defining character of the communities may be shaped or reshaped every year as new residents participate.  Some even have a voice in how the House budget is spent.

Individual students help create and direct every imaginable type of event, from study breaks to off-campus trips, to sporting events and shopping trips, to community service and semi-formal balls.  In some Houses, they also serve as judicial "officers" who assist in resolving conflicts within their communities.

Any resident who is interested in House governance should contact their RA, GA or House Director to determine how membership is established and/or when elections may be held.
