Graduate Coordinator for Residential Programs

College Houses and Academic Services appoints one Penn Graduate School of Education MSEd student as a GA in the position of Graduate Coordinator for Residential Programs.

This GA position will: 

  • hold office hours in the CHAS central office
  • provide programming leadership and support
  • design initiatives
  • assist with the marketing and assessment of CHAS programs

While there will be some set office hours, the position is flexible. The GA will work directly with the supervisor to map out a schedule.

Overview of Responsibilities

The primary areas of focus for this position will be as follows:

1) Managing all facets of the College House Cup, including but not limited to the following items:

  • Chairing the Cup committee comprised of House Deans, Coordinators, and Students
  • Recruiting and training student Cup Representatives from each College House
  • Marketing events via residential posting, electronic communication, and social media
  • Planning and implementing one-day special events such as trivia nights, food drives, and theme nights at varsity athletic games
  • Tracking points awarded to Houses for College House events, PennRec special events, and intramural sports
  • Planning end-of-year Cup celebration events and semester recognition events for Cup Reps
  • Assessing achievement of program outcomes

2) Supporting the implementation of College House Signature Events:

  • Program Communities: Room selection events, Student-Designed Community selection processes and events, etc.
  • College House Music Program: selection process and events
  • College House Research Program: selection process, conference, and showcase
  • Penn Student Film Festival
  • Act II: Second Year Experience events

3) Supporting the implementation of CHAS room selection events: Four-Year House Luncheon, CHAS Living Fair, Information Sessions, and Coffee Chats

4) Assessing achievement of designated outcomes of any program listed above

5) Assisting with general CHAS marketing including facilitation of focus groups, photography at events, and review of electronic and printed materials

6) Performing other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications and Essential Skills

  • Interest in marketing, assessment, and programming
  • Interest in intramural sports
  • Interest in student affairs and experiential learning methods
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a wide-ranging internal and external base of faculty, students, and staff
  • Comfortable acting in a leadership and mentoring capacity

Hours/Schedule:
15-20 hours/week; some evenings and weekends will be required

Position Length:
Monday August 3rd, 2020 until May 14, 2021 **position can start earlier if available

Compensation:
$18 per hour; paid weekly

Ability to coordinate large-scale events, to partner with various campus offices, to conduct assessment activities, to advise a group of student leaders, and to be creative with marketing
