Remembering a trailblazer

The first woman to be appointed as faculty by the University of Pennsylvania, botanist Dr. Emily Lovira Gregory, was featured as the subject of a biographical article by Penn Current. Dr. Gregory, the first American woman to receive a Ph.D. in botany and one of the first American women to receive a doctorate in the sciences, is the namesake of Gregory College House.
